Step inside the mind of a quirky character in a persona poem workshop! Students will choose a work of art from printed examples to inspire a character and develop that character’s point of view using improv exercises. Integrating elements of visual inspiration with their character, students will create a broadside of their persona poem and have a new piece of art to take home! Led by **Jen Cheng**, West Hollywood Poet Laureate and 2025 Poet Laureate Fellow with the Academy of American Poets. As a teaching artist, Cheng has taught at Los Angeles LGBT Center, UCLA Extension, The Poetry Society of New York, and at various community venues.
