Created for the film's 100th anniversary, this performance channels the psychological collapse at its core through repetition and dissonance. Crushing death metal passages give way to hypnotic synth structures, trapping the listener in cycles of tension before descending into total chaos. Directed by Teinosuke Kinugasa and thought to be lost for nearly 50 years, the film survives today as a fragmented, feverish journey into memory, guilt, and madness. The evening opens with special guest performances by Bay Area dungeon synth artists Forwyrd and Refusa, setting the stage with immersive dark ambient soundscapes before the film. A one-night only descent into sound and image, performed live at Zebulon on July 8, 2026.
