We will outline and define our voices to craft our own iconic horror movie scream scene with breath work exercises, somatic release prompts and co-witnessing each other in the raw chaotic catharsis of horror fiction. Jasmine Nyende is a punk vocalist, educator and visual artist from Los Angeles, California. She was lead vocalist for the punk band FUCK U PAY US! and has taught vocal workshops for the past 10 years at spaces including Girls Rock Camp, CalArts and San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery. She frames each exercise around the legacy of Black women in punk music, punk music as a musical artform that unites people in struggle, and the ways in which the collective body can process trauma through both witnessing and enacting a “rage in/to radiance” practice.
