BIRDBATH is a whacky flute, drum, vocal, and movement project based in Santa Fe, NM. Their performances drift between shrill grinding catharsis and drone pools, with free punk tendencies, technical spasms, pleasant release, creative movement and experimental balladry. The trio of Adam Lion (vibraphone), Mike Meanstreetz (drums), and Clementine Wink (electronics) is an ad-hoc improvised ensemble, and for this show they meet for the first time. Each has developed rigorous practices striving for idiosyncrasy within traditions like classical, punk, DIY and noise. This performance will showcase how the performers interact within these constraints to create something new. The Disco Coup is an extreme force of energy that can send you to the pupils-dilated soup where anxiety, arousal, inspiration, liberation, are one. A force that can hold you suspended there, buzzing at a wild pitch, and express something immediate, material and real.
