Co-sponsored by CAAM and St. Joseph Center, and launched in 2025 with support from the Weingart Foundation, Building Black Futures is part of the center’s ongoing salon series that curates transformational conversations bringing together leading voices across sectors to examine the intersection of housing, racial justice, and economic opportunity within the Black community. This conversation will be moderated by Dr. Ryan J. Smith, President and CEO, St. Joseph Center. Panelists include Joanna Jackson, President and CEO, Weingart Foundation, Brenda Solórzano, President and CEO, The California Endowment, George Fatheree, Founder & CEO, ORO Impact, Henry Hipps, CEO and Co-Founder of Diffusion Venture Studio. Closing remarks will be given by Gustavo Velasquez, Director, California Department of Housing and Community Development. Launched in 2025 with support from the Weingart Foundation, the series centers thoughtful and meaningful dialogue grounded in values of equity, community, and shared responsibility.
