Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - Downtown, Los Angeles
Martin Scorsese is regarded as many things, but a horror filmmaker is rarely one of them. Yet with the 1991 remake of J. Lee Thompson's CAPE FEAR, Scorsese proved that he has as much of a knack for horror cinema as any other genre that he is known for working in. Featuring a particularly nasty performance by Robert De Niro, chewing scenery (and people) opposite a cast featuring Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange, and Juliette Lewis, as well as special appearances by the 1962 film's stars, Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum, Scorsese's CAPE FEAR is an impressive foray into terror that seldom gets the attention it deserves.
