Felicia T Perez & Ruby BarrientosClosing Reception | May 9, 202612–2 PM — Felicia T Perez6–8 PM — Ruby BarrientosSER DE | NI DEDual Exhibition Statement | Felicia T Perez & Ruby BarrientosThis is home. And also not.Ruby is not from Southern California.Felicia is not the same person who left.Fourteen years ago, Felicia lived in Los Angeles as a public school social studies teacher and former community organizer. They knew where to get a bullhorn. They knew where to find the best school supplies. They did not know where to print large-scale work or fabricate objects. They did not call themselves an artist. Now they are back and everything has shifted and changed.Ser De | Ni De sits in that in-between.Between who we were and who we are.Between where we’re from and where we land.Between what we inherit and what we build. This exhibition is about trying to find home—and realizing you have to make it. Again and again, with what you have, where you are, and with the people you love.Across scale, sound, and presence, we ask:What does it mean to belong? What does it mean to be seen? What does it take to take up space? If we’re not from one place, maybe that means we get to build one. Together. On view: April 25 – May 9, 2026Closing Reception: May 9, 12-2 PM & 6–8 PMThis exhibition would not have been possible without the support of local family, friends, and homies. Thank you to the Tongva people for allowing us to share this space. Thank you to all past and current stewards of the land. Special thanks to ArtBug Gallery, folks who organized around the DNC in 2000, teachers of every kind.
