**Project Room + Atrium** After a 25-year hiatus, Crazy Space comes home to its original space at the 18th Street Arts Center (18SAC). Crazy Space was a high-dive platform for experimental artists risking failure, making a bold, creative statement, or living out a public or private latent art fantasy for one night. Crazy Space Returns presents work by our alums and by artists new to the Crazy Space universe, art exhibits and ephemera from its archives in the Project Room. Marcus Kuiland-Nazario is invoking Crazy Space Returns in communion with Crazy Space acolytes both old and new. Stay tuned for updates on our programming. Crazy Space became an infamous haven for artists and curators creating short-term experimental installations and exhibitions to durational, immersive, performance-based environments, interspecies collaborations, and grand finales. It provided asylum for artists and audiences, who almost always became participants in its particular madness, including comebacks, flops, and performances that lasted up to 9 days. Crazy Space was co-conceived, co-founded, and coined by Asher Hartman and Lisa Adams in 2000 at 18SAC. Its rotating curatorial committee later included Michael Sakamoto, Carol McDowell, Rochelle Fabb, Kristina Farragher, Marcus Kuiland-Nazario, and Curt Lemieux, among others. Artists were given the keys and asked to return the space (approx. 250 sq ft) as they found it. It was a rare and essential experimental retreat and home for stray artists exploring the margins of their disciplines from 2000 to 2005. A rare thing then and now.
