The film features a cast of both currently and formerly unhoused residents who are members of POOR Magazine, an Oakland arts and activism collective. Inspired by the actors’ real life stories, *Crushing Wheelchairs *incorporates elements of magical realism, poetry and folklore to examine the causes and harsh realities of homelessness, told directly by the people who struggle against it everyday.
