**Writer/Producer**: Julie Dash Join us for Julie Dash’s rapturous masterpiece, *Daughters of the Dust*.  As the 20th century dawns, a multi-generational Gullah family from the Sea Islands off of the South Carolina coast struggle to maintain their deep-rooted heritage and folklore while considering relocating to the mainland. The first widely released feature from a Black female director, the film was met with ecstatic critical acclaim and phenomenal audience response when it initially opened in 1991. *Daughters of the Dust* has cast a resounding legacy including references to the film in Beyonce’s video album *“Lemonade.”* Restored (in conjunction with UCLA) for the first time with proper color grading overseen by cinematographer AJ Jafa, audiences will finally see the film exactly as Julie Dash intended.
