In the last few years workers have led unionization efforts across the country at a wide range of companies such as Starbucks and Amazon. Workers at Natural History Museum, LACMA, CalArts and other cultural institutions in Los Angeles have recently organized, linking their struggles to the broader labor movement. Join AFSCME Local 126, which represents workers at the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (MOCA), Academy Foundation, Academy Museum and Kidspace Children’s Museum, to chat about labor organizing in the museum field and beyond. There will be information about unions, button-making, embroidery, a selection of material about the history and horizon of labor organizing, eBooks, and a book drive for the Claremont Forum Prison Library Project.
