Chilean-American muralist, painter, poet and arts activist Francisco Letelier is the subject of a new documentary film by Brogan de Paor and Julie Thompson. Based in Venice, California, Francisco has been painting murals around the world for 40 years. He is the son of Orlando Letelier, who was minister of Defense in Salvador Allende's Chilean government in 1973. Overthrown, tortured, and exiled to Washington, D.C., Orlando was murdered by Augusto Pinochet in 1976 at Sheridan Circle when Francisco was 16. The Institute for Policy Study holds the Letelier -Moffatt awards every year in the name of these two murdered international activists. Francisco talks about his history and his art work in this compelling film.
