FRIGHT NIGHT is everything you want from a movie that features a vampire wearing a white turtleneck. When total hunk Jerry Dandrige (Chris Sarandon) moves into the neighborhood, his next door neighbor Charlie Brewster suspects that something is wrong. This is probably because Charlie sees Dandrige turn into a vampire. Charlie and girlfriend Amy enlist the help of TV horror host Roddy McDowall to take Dandrige down and save the world. BUT CAN THEY DO IT?! From McDowall's charming movie-within-a-movie host segments to Stephen Geoffreys' maniacal performance as “Evil Ed,” FRIGHT NIGHT does for vampires what AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON did for werewolves. This is a revisionist valentine to the nostalgic spirit of classic horror, all wrapped up in coked-out 1980s excess courtesy the director of the original CHILD’S PLAY. (Joseph A. Ziemba)
