KCRW, AKP Recordings, and pehrspace present Fuubutsushi, the duo of Prymek & Sage, and the trio of Dave Harrington, Max Jaffe and Patrick Shiroishi. **Fuubutsushi** (trio): Formed during the early pandemic, Fuubutsushi is a quartet -- Chris Jusell, Chaz Prymek, Matthew Sage, and Patrick Shiroishi -- that garnered an underground following after releasing an album ever season in 2020-2021, recording all their parts remotely. Their sound blends new music, cool jazz, folk, experimental and post rock, subtle electronics, and neoclassical elements to create a distinctive, adventurous, and melodic experience. They self released *Meridians*, a double LP, in 2024, and their only live show before now was released on LP by American Dreams Recordings as *Columbia Deluxe* in 2025. This will be the second ever Fuubutsushi performance, and the groups first in a trio arrangement (minus Jusell). **Prymek & Sage**: Chaz Prymek & Matthew Sage live in the Mountain West -- Utah and Colorado respectively -- and have been making music together for more than a decade. Prymek helms the expansive Lake Mary project, and Sage releases his solo works as M. Sage with RVNG intl. Since 2020 they've split songwriting duties in their group Fuubutsushi, an underground ambient jazz institution that also features Patrick Shiroishi and Chris Jusell. After more than six years since their last duo album, Prymek and Sage have released a new album, *Shelter*, on AKP Recordings. Exploring terrains that bridge pastoral instrumental Americana, ambient textures and sprawls, minimal and modal jazz, and ECM styles, their new album creates a lush and expansive sound that feels familiar and also nuanced. **Harrington/Jaffe/Shiroishi** are an experimental music trio from Los Angeles. The group works at a cross section of avant-garde, ambient, electronic, post-hardcore, and free jazz, but is not really any of those things. The group embraces a fully improvised ethos, with each performance and recording balancing intention with malleability to render specific moments in time and space into a growing body of spontaneous musical conversation. Following 2023’s debut *Speak, Moment* - which captured the very first meeting of the trio - Dave Harrington, Max Jaffe, and Patrick Shiroishi reunite for a multidimensional record that goes deeper into the many navigable musical territories suggested by its predecessor. The result, *Making Colors*, quietly stands among these three prolific musicians’ best work.
