**High Performance: A 2-Year Conference Launch Party ** **Saturday, January 31st | Time TBD** **18th Street Arts Center** **Free + Open to the Public** ***High Performance: A 2-Year Conference*** ***(2025–2027)*** will celebrate its launch on **Saturday, January 31, 2026**, with founder Linda Frye Burnham (also the co-founder of 18SAC) at 18th Street Arts Center’s campus. *High Performance* artists featured on various covers, including Paul McCarthy, Nancy Buchanan, Richard Newton, Sisters of Survival, and Suzanne Lacy will be present. These artists and others will present activations throughout the day, with a highlight of Lacy reimagining of her performance *Cinderella in a Dragster* (1976), as featured on the first *High Performance* cover in 1978, with a new 2025 speedster. The *High Performance: A 2-Year Conference (2025–2027)*, an unprecedented multi-year initiative dedicated to *High Performance* magazine. This collaboration with The Getty Research Institute (GRI) which houses High Performance’s archives, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE), Highways Performance Space and Gallery (HPSG), and the Performance Art Museum (PAM)—together with academic partners—the series will explore High Performance’s lasting impact on the fields of art and performance. The initiative will develop programming that examines, celebrates, and documents the magazine’s history while extending its influence to a new generation of performance artists, scholars, and educators.
