In Conversation: Amber Esseiva and Cameron Shaw

Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

California African American Museum (CAAM), Los Angeles

Join us for a thought-provoking conversation exploring the exhibition *Dear Mazie,* inspired by the pioneering life and work of Amaza Lee Meredith (1895–1984), the first known Black queer woman architect in the United States. Cameron Shaw, Executive Director and Chief Curator at CAAM, and Amber Essevia, curator of Dear Mazie, and Acting Senior Curator at the Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU, will discuss the exhibition, which showcases responses to Meredith’s work from eleven contemporary artists, architects, and designers. Don't miss this opportunity to engage in a meaningful discussion about the intersection of art, identity, and architectural history.
