California African American Museum (CAAM), Los Angeles
Join us for a special dialogue between the pioneering publishers of two groundbreaking magazines, *BLK* and *Aché*. *BLK* was a national Black gay publication, published in Los Angeles by Alan Bell. *Aché* was created in Oakland by Lisbet Tellefsen and others to provide a creative and political outlet for Black lesbians. Each publication made a national impact, contributing to American print culture, building networks of readers, subscribers, writers, and artists, and expanding the social justice movement and LGBTQ rights. Presented in conjunction with *Free & Queer: Black Californian Roots of Gay Liberation*.
