Courtesy of Elena Herrmann. Elena Herrmann (Germany) is multimedia artist based in Berlin whose practice includes performance, film and music. In her work she explores physical, emotional, linguistic, and spiritual potentials in cyclical processes of destruction and creation, always on the lookout for wonder and hope. Herrmann is a Villa Aurora fellow and will spend her residency at 18th Street Art Center. During the three months of her stay she will work on a site- specific episode film in which Villa Aurora is a place of an ever-rising sun which is one day haunted by the first night. By taking on the roles of various Aurorians who express their thoughts and feelings about this unprecedented phenomenon, she examines notions of and reactions to an assumed crisis. This residency is generously sponsored by a partnership between 18th Street Arts Center and [Villa Aurora](https://www.vatmh.org/en/artists-residence.html).
