Santa Monica, CA 90404 **Free + Open to the Public** These gatherings are dedicated to gathering our community around good food, conversation, and art. Please stop by for a bite and chat with our community and spotlight artist Mark Farina. Mark will conduct a performative lecture highlighting his experience of the Otis Public Practice program and its history at 18th Street. He will also present various examples of his public art on LA’s westside. An introduction to the pseudo-science of remote viewing will be followed by a group remote viewing drawing exercise. It will be a discussion of the process where participants can experience a localized experiment utilizing their unconscious mind to draw hidden objects. Mark x Farina, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a socio-pop artist with an awareness and training attuned to consciousness. He practices an art regimen of recycling, repurposing, and messaging through various street tactics. Mark's studio practice uses experimental media to create sound and visuals, paintings, silk screens, and plant-based sculptures. Artworks have been donated and auctioned for charities including the Venice Family Clinic, Joshua Tree National Park, 18th Street Arts Center and the Middle of Nowhere skate parks. Mark recently exhibited at the Angel’s Gate Cultural Center with a performance installation for Sound San Pedro. Born in Pittsburgh, PA. and living in Santa Monica, CA., he applies the philosophy “Work fast, cure slow, destroy before collecting dust.” Farina is an Otis MFA graduate and has held residencies at Cite Des Art Paris, France and High Desert Test Sites – Wonder Valley residency project.
