Please stop by for a bite and chat with our community and spotlight artist [Suchi Branfman.](https://18thstreet.org/california-creative-corps/suchi-branfman/) Artist bio: Suchi Branfman has traveled the globe sharing dance as a pathway to empowerment and a voice for justice. From the war zones of Nicaragua to prisons in Uganda, and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow to the Joyce Theatre in New York City, Suchi partners with both formally and community-trained movers—dancing through walls, across borders and deep into community. As an artist/activist, she deploys the power of dance to create collaborative and personalized works alive with force, clarity, and community. In her work, choreography tells stories of sustenance, resistance, and freedom through the language of the body. She sees dance as a brave space to explore our history, current context, identity, and dreams while being acknowledged, dignified, and seen.
