Known for her captivating performances in New York and Los Angeles, Julie brings a fresh and soulful approach to jazz, blending classic elegance with modern sensibility. She’s performed at venues coast to coast and recorded with Joe Farnsworth and Benny Benack III at the iconic Rudy Van Gelder Studio, as well as collaborated with drummer Kyle Poole on a Splice project at Sound Factory in Hollywood. Based in Los Angeles and New York, Julie also hosts a popular monthly jam session at Steep LA, fostering community and spotlighting rising talent in the heart of Chinatown. He has also performed with luminaries such as Sonny Rollins, Betty Carter, and Ella Fitzgerald. His dynamic yet sensitive drumming blends hard bop, soul, and swing with effortless precision. A graduate of the Herbie Hancock Institute at UCLA, he has performed with Herbie Hancock, Terrace Martin, Louis Cole, Alex Isley, and more. Originally from Minneapolis, Javier studied at The New School in NYC before relocating to Los Angeles, where he is now based.
