For LAFM's first-ever L.A.-based filmmaker narrative shorts program, we’ve invited the fearless local screening series Presidium Overactive to present a series of adventurous premieres: films that take a variety of cockeyed perspectives on shattered dreams, seductive cults, and the nagging sensation of self-doubt. Six short films, all Los Angeles, West Coast or World premieres. ∆ *Code Rouge* (dir. Alex Pabaricus, China/France/USA | 26m) A Chinese bodybuilder's spiritual crisis takes a surreal turn when his imaginary best friend, Arnold Schwarzenegger, takes him on a journey toward self-acceptance. West Coast premiere. ~ *Going Sane* (dir. Joey Izzo, USA | 15m) A 1970s Los Angeles therapy collective rises with utopian promise before devolving into a business-minded cult built on control and abuse. Los Angeles premiere. ~ *Hollis* (dir. Conor Scheinberg, USA | 12m) After leaving New York City behind, Hollis checks into a quiet roadside motel where she meets Adam, a young male escort she's hired. As the night unfolds, Hollis guides Adam through an unsettling, intimate experiment that blurs emotional and psychological boundaries. But just as she returns to her routine, a sudden, senseless act of violence shatters the illusion of control she tried to reclaim. World premiere. ~ *Potato Potato* (dir. Josh Locy, USA | 14m) When Cynthia writes a letter to the baby growing inside her about her hopes for their future, the baby writes back.. Los Angeles premiere. ~ *Shadow Daddy* (dir. Andrew Theodore Balasia, USA | 8m) When a mysterious dream sparks an unexpected conversation, a boyfriend and girlfriend spiral into revealing the insecurities lurking beneath their relationship. World premiere. ~ *A Stable Marriage* (dir. Josephine Decker, USA | 8m) A woman's sexual fantasy is fulfilled -- with surprising ramifications. Comment end. West Coast premiere.
