**Light Asylum** **Buck Gooter** **Baby Aspirin DVD** **LIGHT ASYLUM** is the internationally revered electronic music project of vocalist and producer Shannon Funchess, founded in Brooklyn, New York, in 2007. Captivating audiences with cathartic performances, LIGHT ASYLUM emerged in 2009 at the forefront of a movement that became a full-blown revival of late '70s to '90s underground music inspired by pioneers of Detroit techno, Belgian new beat, EBM, gothic rock, Chicago house, new wave, and post-punk. Autumn of 2011 heralded a new gothic club anthem, "Dark Allies," with Funchess emoting eternal life with her signature contralto singing on the debut In Tension EP, released on Mexican Summer/Kemado Records. The follow-up, the 2012 self-titled LP released the following spring, helped ignite the darkwave genre, coinciding with the coldwave revival in NYC's underground music scene. Funchess carried the torch above ground to iconic live music venues and international open-air music festivals and has lent her vocals to many established artists across multiple genres on Warp Records, Rabid Records, and Mute Records. **Buck Gooter** is an electro rock band established in 2005 that has spent their entire existence operating at the unlikely conflux of prolific bedroom songwriter and DIY punk pilgrim traditions, with over two dozen albums in their discography and over 800 shows scraped together and played in the international sub-underground and above. Their work is presented in the form of idiosyncratic expressionistic impulses conveyed over semi-relatable beat, loop, and skronk based music that forms a singular experience. A truly death-defying act, Buck Gooter has persisted after the passing of founding member Terry Turtle in 2019, who insisted that the music continue to live on without him. Thusly, remaining founding member Billy Brett produced music with Terry Turtle sampled in every song and has released three albums under these new collaborative terms. "King Kong Lives: Thereminsanity", the latest entry into the Buck Gooter canon, finds the band unbound, alive, and persistent in their quest for self expression. **babyaspirindvd** Emerging from the mid-noughties Providence, RI experimental/noise scene, followed by several years under the tutelage of gamelan gurus in the mountain villages of Indonesia, the multivalent Los Angeles musician Cordey Lopez coaxes raw edge sounds via modular and more into an hyper-pelog synth-metal of his own invention. Come take the plunge.
