DE FALLA: _The Three-Cornered Hat_, Suite No.1 We open the LACO season at The Wallis with **MOVEMENT(S)!**, a high-voltage orchestral celebration of dance led by LA Opera’s first Colombian-American conductor, **Lina González-Granados**, and featuring one of today’s leading countertenors, **John Holiday**. Four distinctive composers come together in one great program that reveals how music and movement have always been interconnected. The evening opens with **Zoltán Kodály**’s _Dances of Galánta_, drawing on the rhythms and colors of Hungarian folk tradition. Holiday then takes the stage for the world premiere of **Carlos Simon**’s _The After Party!_, a tribute to the enduring legacy of Black American music and the centennial of the Harlem Renaissance. A moment of reflection follows in **Gabriela Lena Frank**’s _Elegía Andina_, where stillness becomes its own kind of movement, and grief finds an expressive voice that reminds us dance can hold sorrow as fully as celebration. The program closes with **De Falla**‘s _Three-Cornered Hat Suite No. 1_, its flamenco rhythms proving once again that music was born to move. Join us for an unforgettable night of music in motion.
