GINASTERA: String Quartet No. 1, Op. 20 **LACO** presents a program spanning a century of music from Spain, Brazil, and Argentina that explores the dynamic exchange between folk tradition and modernist innovation. Principal winds take center stage in **Oscar** **Navarro**’s cinematic _Juego de Ladrones (Game of Thieves)_, a theatrical work full of quick shifts and witty interplay. Principal Flutist **Benjamin** **Smolen** follows with **Piazzolla**’s Tango Étude No. 3, distilling the sensual tension and rhythmic freedom at the heart of tango. LACO’s string quartet performs **Ginastera**’s landmark String Quartet No. 1, which channels the fierce rhythmic drive of Argentine folk traditions into a propulsive modernist language. The program also includes **Tania León**’s luminous _Alma_ and **Villa-Lobos**’ poetic Improviso No. 7, completing a journey through the musical landscapes of the Americas. Join us for an afternoon where folk memory and modernist daring speak with equal urgency.
