Poor, hungry peasant Macario longs for just one good meal on the Day of the Dead. After his wife cooks a turkey for him, he meets three apparitions, the Devil, God, and Death who each ask for a piece of his dinner. From who will he accept the bargain, and what price will he have to pay? The first Mexican film to be nominated for an Academy Award, this supernatural drama is not to be missed on the big screen. Macario was restored by The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project and Fundación Televisa at L’Immagine Ritrovata in collaboration with Filmoteca UNAM and in association with Televisa S. de R.L. de C.V. Funding was provided by the Golden Globe Foundation, a generous supporter of Vidiots Foundation. The **Hello Stranger Foundation** is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to bringing communities together through music, art, and cultural experiences. Rooted in creativity, inclusivity, and community connection, the foundation celebrates the diverse voices and traditions that make Los Angeles unique. **Día de los Muertos** Join us on October 25th for more Día de los Muertos revelry including face painting, crafts, and more fun from 11:00am – 2:00pm.
