2220 hosts Oakland-based multi-instrumentalist **Marielle V Jakobsons**, celebrating her latest release on Thrill Jockey, *The Patterns Lost to Air*. Los Angeles accordionist composer **Walt McClements** joins Marielle for a night of immersive sonic envelopment. ~ **Marielle V Jakobsons** has cultivated a signature voice molded by minimalist, ambient and spiritual traditions. Her recordings, from her early work with the Date Palms, to the ongoing work with Chuck Johnson in Saariselka, and most definitively with *The Patterns Lost to Air*, show Jakobsons to be an exceptionally skillful sound sculptor, a musician who knows the value of patience and control. An artist able to derive maximum impact from her chosen sound elements, the album's layout is shaped by three primary voices of violin, Fender Rhodes, and Moog Matriarch and was recorded in 2024 in the studio Jakobsons built in Oakland, California, its huge windows overlooking a backyard with olive and palm trees, nesting towhees and hummingbirds. **Walt McClements** is an accordionist, multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Los Angeles. His solo compositions focus on processed accordion, creating patient and emotional meditations that nod to drone and ambient music. His debut record, *A Hole in the Fence* was released in 2021 on American Dreams, and utilized a minimal palette of accordions processed through pedals to create glacial soundscapes and odes to hidden worlds. On his latest record, and first for Western vinyl, *On a Painted Ocean*, he expands his sonic tools to include lush synths, droning pipe organs, and spirited horns, creating a vibrant journey from solitary stillness to community exuberance. The record also follows 2024’s *Rain on the Road*, a collaborative album with harpist Mary Lattimore, released on Thrill Jockey.
