MELANCHOLIA takes place in a mansion. It's the night of Justine's (Kirsten Dunst) wedding, and we find out something is very wrong with her. Sadness surrounds her heart and there's nothing anyone can do to cure it. An even bigger tragedy is also on the horizon: there's a planet called "Melancholia" that's ten times the size of Earth that's been hiding behind the sun, and it's headed straight towards us. In Lars von Trier's previous work, he wants us to feel pain. In MELANCHOLIA, we're supposed to understand it. (Chase Whale)
