2220 Arts + Archives, Los Angeles

Join composer and guitar pioneer Michael Brook for his first LA concert in two decades, on the occasion of his 75th birthday! ~ Emerging at the forefront of the ambient movement, signed to 4AD in the 80s and 90s, Michael Brook released a succession of landmark albums including *Cobalt Blue*, *Hybrid*, and *Sleeps With The Fishes* (with Pieter Nooten). He was a close collaborator with Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, David Sylvian, Robert Fripp and countless others, produced scores of artists including The Pogues and Mary Margaret O’Hara, and invented the Infinite guitar which defines his signature sound. (The instrument was also played by The Edge during U2’s classic period.) Collaborating with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on the classics *Night Song* and *Musst Musst*, Brook helped bring a number of world music artists to prominence for Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records. Quite the multi-hyphenate, he has also scored 50+ films including *Into the Wild*, *The Perks of Being a Wallflower*, *Brooklyn*, *The Fighter* and *The Vow*, and his music has had prominent features in movies such as Michael Mann's *Heat*. In 2026, he is returning to live and recorded music after a 20 year absence. To cap it all, this solo show at 2220 Arts will also be a 75th birthday celebration!
