MORBID WEEKEND (2026) West Coast Premiere!

WHAMMY!, Los Angeles

In the film, a pizza delivery person (Greg Diaz) dies while on the job, leaving three orders unfulfilled. Mourning him, a young woman (Rosie Wilt) spends a lost weekend donning and doffing multiple sullen personas—a pierrot, an ill-fated grunge star, a Chanel-suited First Lady. As she explores grief through cosplay, the spectre of the driver returns to finish his work. Those awaiting their orders—a handful of loners spangled across California’s San Gabriel Valley—receive their pizzas, and perhaps, an encounter with the beyond. ‍ MORBID WEEKEND weds contemplative duration and passages of experimental abstraction with ghost story spookiness and sly humor. The film explores the roles we play at work, in our creative practices, and when we think no one else is around. It features music by one of LA’s best bands, 2070, and a driving minimalist score by Brian Sullivan (Mouthus, United Waters). Luca Cioci’s stunning photography captures the soft blue evenings of LA’s other valley—a mountain-hugged expanse east of Hollywood and inland from the coast. The film’s cast boasts a mix of LA-based filmmakers, musicians, writers, designers, and craftspeople, as well as canine and feline celebrities. ‍ ‍ **dir.
