Phone Charm Lab with Design Hive

Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM

California African American Museum (CAAM), Los Angeles

Inspired by *Sadie Barnette: How to Fly*, this interactive workshop invites participants to explore the installation through observation and design. After a short guided “looking” activity in the Museum’s atrium, guests will choose colors, patterns, and textures from the installation that resonate with them. With optional design tips from Design Hive facilitators, participants will then create a custom phone charm or keychain using beads, cord, and charms. Design Hive is a Los Angeles–based creative education studio that designs hands-on maker workshops and STEAM experiences for museums, schools, and community organizations. All ages and abilities are welcome.
