2220 Arts + Archives, Los Angeles

Serpentine Transmission returns to 2220 Arts & Archives to celebrate the release of their new album, *of mud and gold*. Joining them are local experimental heavy-hitters, Nephila and Deathflavorkiss. Serpentine Transmission is Nicki Chen, electroacoustic viola; Nicholas Deyoe, guitars; M.A. Harms, drums and percussion; Micaela Tobin, voice and electronics. Through Nephila, Los Angeles based artist Shannon Kennedy combines her work as a string player, sculptor and theater designer into performance pieces that center around her sonic sculptures. With them, she weaves sound environments and narratives that depict connections between the natural world and the human psyche. Deathflavorkiss is Melissa Achten and Eli Klausner, two composers, improvisers, and multi-instrumentalists. Their decade-plus long collaboration combines esoteric objects and hand-built instruments with their experimental harp and piano practice. They’ve performed and premiered compositions in New York, Montréal, London, and Cyprus. Deathflavorkiss develops work out of their home studio Oracle Egg, which is also an experimental arts incubator that they run together.
