### **ABOUT THE FILM:** Sam Neill is Smith, a man escaping the break-up of his marriage by finding isolation on a coastal island. As he settles in, the country experiences its own turmoil: an oil embargo has led to martial law and civil war, which Smith is increasingly sucked into. This was the first feature film for both Sam Neill and filmmaker Roger Donaldson, as well as the first feature length film in color to be shot in New Zealand.
