Our first gathering of the year! Thank you to the El Sereno Community Garden for this invitation to co-present an afternoon of learning from the land, sharing food, collective singing, and listening to Chispa’s debut album Somos Medicina. The album is a reflection of our interdependence with the land, the plants that nourish us, and the friendships and community ties that help us find our medicine and we’re grateful to share space inhabiting this music together. This is a community potluck, so feel free to bring something if you can! Garden volunteer Lola Salgado will host a workshop on native pollinators and their habitats. Chispa’s lead singer and producer Julia Rocha-Nava will guide song games for all ages. We’ll also have the chance to listen to the full album and interact with the beautiful risograph printed coloring book that accompanies it. All of this will take place at the El Sereno Community Garden, a space dedicated to environmental justice and community gathering. We hope to see you here! 🌿
