**Spain, Friends of Dean Martinez** Spain is a Los Angeles-based musical group founded in 1993 by bassist/vocalist Josh Haden. Spain’s debut 1995 release, The Blue Moods Of Spain, helped define the slowcore sub-genre of alternative rock. Spain’s songs have been recorded on Grammy-winning albums by Johnny Cash and the duo of Charlie Haden & Pat Metheny (Josh is jazz bassist Charlie Haden’s son), and have been performed live by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Over the course of thirty years, Spain have released seven studio albums, a greatest hits album, two live albums, and several singles, including songs written for film. Their most recent release, World Of Blue, issues demos recorded prior to Blue Moods for the first time on vinyl. \-- Originally released in 1995, The Blue Moods of Spain marked the debut of Los Angeles rock band Spain, led by Josh Haden. The album’s atmospheric blend of jazz, blues, and indie pop helped spawn the slowcore genre, garnered widespread critical acclaim, and has become a cult classic. Featuring tracks like “Spiritual” (later covered by Johnny Cash), "Untitled #1”, and the epic, 14-minute “World Of Blue”, the album’s melancholic beauty and lush arrangements continue to resonate with fans and new listeners alike.
