**Steven Brown (Tuxedomoon), Coffin Prick, Cate Kennan** Steven Brown - Chicago Illinois Musician and Composer Moved from the midwest to San Francisco Ca. in the mid seventies where he joins the legendary theatre group the Angels of Light. Later after meeting Blaine Reininger in electronic music class the two musicians form the cult band Tuxedomoon in 1977. In 1981 Brown and Tuxedomoon move to Europe where they will produce more than 15 cd&lps and numerous tours of the continent and America and Asia. As a solo artist Brown produced more than 10 records and has composed music for dance, theatre and fashion shows (Maurice Bejart, Thierry Smits, Lolita Danse, Julie Anzilotti,Claudia Skoda). His work can be appreciated in soundtracks for films by directors Wim Wenders, Patrice Chereau, Patrick Degeetere, Rudolf Mestdagh among others. In 1993 Brown moves to Mexico and forms the band Nine Rain.. With this formation he records 7 cds and in 2000 is commissioned to compose and record the music for the Mexican Pavillion at the International Expo in Hannover. Awarded the grant Mexico en Escena in 2007 Brown and Nine Rain compose an original soundtrack for the classic film by Sergei Eisenstein Que Viva Mexico! From 2008—2012 Nine Rain tours Mexico and Europe performing the soundtrack live with the film. In addition Nine Rain plays concerts in San Petersburg, Moscow, Berlin, Belgrade, and Firenze. In 2001 Brown moves to Oaxaca where he begins to work with local musicians and forms Cinema Domingo Orchestra dedicated to composing and performing live music for silent films from the beginning of the 20th century. CDO is twice commissioned by the Goethe Institute of Mexico to compose and perform new music for the American premieres of the newly restored films Algol (1920 Hans Werckmeister) and Destiny (Fritz Lang 1921). In 2007 thanks to a grant from the federal House of Representatives Brown begins the project Re-Mixes with the Banda Regional Mixe and its director Leovigildo Martinez. Together with Julio Garcia they begin to compose new music with the young musicians and as part of the project gypsy bands from the Balkans are invited to Oaxaca to play with the BRM. 2008 Mahala Rai and 2010 Kocani Orkestar. In 2009 achieving the stated goal of the project, BRM records their first cd/dvd RE-MIXES and begins to tour Mexico and Europe. Film related work has been a constant with Brown and in 2009 he is invited by director Albino Alvarez to score the documentary El Informe Toledo about Oaxacan artist Francisco Toledo. In 2010 Browns soundtrack is nominated for an Ariel (Mexican equivalent of the Oscar) for Best Music, the first time a documentary had ever been nominated in this category. As a result of this work Brown forms Ensamble Kafka together with Julio Garcia and other local talents with the stated intent of creating a musical blend inspired by traditional Oaxacan and contemporary music. Other film related works include recent soundtracks for the documentaries, Maiz en Tiempos de Guerra by Alberto Cortez, Flor en Otomie by Luisa Riley and the feature film Moronga by John Dickie. With Tuxedomoon and Cult With No Name Brown participated in the soundtrack for the film Blue Velvet Revisted , a documentary of the making of David Lynchs classic film. Invited by the well known young director of contemporary theatre Agustin Meza, Brown has begun to work in the Mexican theatre scene already participating in 3 productions by Mezas company El Ghetto.
