Summer Art Camp: Art That Moves (Ages 6–8)

Monday, July 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

LACMA, Los Angeles

Inspired by sculptures like [*Three Quintains (Hello Girls)*](https://collections.lacma.org/node/2306628) by Alexander Calder, this class explores the exciting world of kinetic art—art that moves! Using paper, paper clips, scissors, and glue sticks, we'll experiment with color, balance, and abstract shapes as we design and build our own kinetic sculptures. Through playful making and discovery, we'll see how simple materials can create artworks that balance, spin, sway, and dance in the air. Taught by artist Maggie Latorre. **This program will take place outdoors on LACMA's campus July 6–10. The ticket price covers all five camp dates. Thirty-minute parking validations are provided for the Pritzker Parking Garage on 6th Street. A supervised one-hour lunch break is scheduled outdoors daily. Please pack a nut-free lunch and water bottle every day.** *Full refunds will only be granted if the art class is canceled by LACMA. Please notify us immediately if a student is unable to attend so that another student on our waiting list can attend class. A refund equal to half of tuition paid will be granted for cancellations made three weeks before class start date. No refunds for cancellations made less than three weeks prior to class start date.*
