Friday, September 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Heavy Manners Library, Los Angeles

TAPE Los Angeles invites you to explore the possibilities of handmade moving image and sound art! **Join us for this FREE workshop in the beautiful Barnsdall Pine Grove from 2pm - 5pm where we will make:** 16mm Moving Image Phytogram Loops - We'll gather plant clippings from around the park and use household chemicals to create a photodeveloper that allows direct printing of the plant's shape directly onto film emulsion! 16mm Direct Animation Film Loops - Draw directly onto the film frame to create a projectable animation! Cassette Tape Audio Loops - Capture sound digitally and dub directly to cassette tape loops, watch a demo on how to create your own tape loop at home! **Then from 6pm - 9pm take in a public installation of our group-made work inside LA Municipal Art Gallery:** We will then splice together everyone's work from the workshop and install film loops in the gallery with an interactive sound component. Gallery visitors will be invited to pop in any of the different cassette tape loops made during the workshop and experience the limitless possibilites of audio visual pairings and magical synchronicities! *T.A.P.E. is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to the preservation, exhibition, and creation of analog media, based out of Whammy!
