Judith Malina (1926-2015) was a German-American Jewish theatre director, anarchist, Hollywood and experimental theatre actress, translator, and activist. She was a woman stage director at a time when this was unheard of. In 1947 she co-founded with her husband The Living Theatre, the longest-running avant-garde theatre company in North America. She was also an avid diarist in the company of Anaïs Nin and Edna St. Vincent Millay. Malina's diaries are stunning examples of the literary diary genre--she writes about everything from company business to gossip to art criticism to sex and more. They are a stirring chronicle of her time and important documents in cultural and activist histories from the late 40s through the early 70s. featuring readings and conversation with Kate Bredeson, Michelle Liu Carriger, and Lars Jan
