**Screenwriter**: Jacy Mairs **Producers**: Karlee Boon, Cameron Holly Dexter, Jacy Mairs *Trash Baby* is an indie drama that celebrates the kids who grew up amidst white trash culture in the early 2000’s. The film follows Stevie (12), during yet another sweltering summer spent in Pine Park. After an unexpected run-in with the resident cool girl next door, Stevie strikes an unlikely friendship with wild, not-so-child, Edie.  Swirling in a new world of puberty, boys, and drinking, Stevie is convinced it is time to leave childhood behind in exchange for new friends and a world she has long romanticized.  That is until the reality of her new found idol’s life which contains fractured experiences of motherhood, corrupted innocence, and a world of violence starts to bleed into the frame. Soon Stevie must decide if she is truly ready to let innocence go or embrace childhood while it lasts.  [The Popcorn List](http://thepopcornlist.com) is an annual survey of acclaimed feature films recommended by film festival programmers across North America – that are not yet available in wide release.  Founded in 2024, The Popcorn List is a discovery and visibility initiative to amplify independent films that deserve to be seen more widely, highlight the discovery nature of film festivals and the craft of film curation, and respect audience’s desire for story-driven movies.
