We’re not going to talk about Judy, okay? With the mainstream success of David Lynch and Mark Frost's massively influential television series *Twin Peaks*, a feature film should have been a slam-dunk success. Instead, FIRE WALK WITH ME was despised when it came out, met with boos at its Cannes premiere, a commercial flop at the box office, and derided as some sort of paranoid fever dream by critics. But three decades later, the critical tune has changed. FIRE WALK WITH ME, a time-shifting prequel to the series, is now regarded as one of Lynch's best films – a masterpiece alongside BLUE VELVET and MULHOLLAND DRIVE. That's not to say it isn't a fever dream at times – it’s a tonal-shift companion piece that shades in detail missing from the overall *Twin Peaks* grand narrative, acting as an epilogue and a bridge to the third season…which only took another 25 years or so to arrive.
