We Direct Music Videos is thrilled to present Volume 9 of The Directors Series. This time, we are showcasing the work of Devonté Hynes, also known as Blood Orange, a multi-faceted musician and visual artist who, in his self-directed videos, has developed a gorgeous and highly personal visual universe to accompany his musical output. Devonté has also directed work for Beck and Mykki Blanco, and composed the scores for films like Palo Alto, Queen & Slim, Passing, Mainstream, Master Gardener, and the upcoming The Invite. Join us for a program of music videos selected by Devonté Hynes, alongside a career-spanning discussion about the relationship between music and moving images. The Directors Series is a celebration of the artistry of music videos and those who make them. As the music video continues to change and mutate in unknowable directions, we want to take stock of the directors and art we love, presenting hand-picked collections of videos in a format rare to the music video: theatrically, with a live audience, and with the filmmakers on hand to discuss their work.
